The Social Media Kindness Project

The Social Media Kindness Project
by: Talin Orfali Ghazarian

Social media has become a big part in today’s society and some people use it for goodness, positive and inspiration, but others not so much. Some people tend to use social media in a negative and toxic way to spread hate, bullying, rudeness, and sending terrible comments to anyone. As previous generations have taught “If you have nothing nice to say or do, do not say or do anything at all”. That is the golden rule.

So, with that I have come up with the social media kindness project. You have no idea what someone is going through in their lives. It is always a good idea to be kind and use social media in empowering and positive ways. This is going to take a village to do. Social media needs a big makeover and we need to start somewhere.

I cannot believe that we have to teach people proper behavior and how to act these days, but we have to. It has become too much and has gone way out of hand. We are not perfect and we do mistakes, but being rude and unkind is not a mistake. It is a bad habit and we need to eliminate it as much as we can.

Social media should be a place where we can be free to post pictures, updates, videos, status updates, stories, ideas, opinions and suggestions. It should be used to get us out of our daily life and to unwind, have fun and share a bit of our lives, but not to the point where it can be misused.

Now, here are instructions of what we can do together to build a safer and happier community online:

  • If you see unkind, rude and horrible comments made by somebody in any group, pages, or to an individual person, report it to the social media outlet that it is found on, and then if you are able to, send that person a private message to teach them kindness and to point out what they did wrong in a civil way. Remember, we are trying to make a difference and be kind to unkind people, so that they can hopefully learn from their mistakes.
  • Vulgar language, inappropriate posts, swearing, threats and other profanity should have no place on social media, especially when shared with people of all ages from children to elderly. Respect each other and create a safe and enjoyable place for everyone.
  • If you see bullying happen, someone being made fun of, being humiliated and ridiculed, step up, report it, take screenshots, record everything, time, date and names involved in the bullying and then find out who you can send the information to. If the situation becomes to the point where authorities need to be contacted, please do. Silence is not the answer. It could save lives, it could prevent from further escalation of the situation.
  • We are all entitled to our opinions and how we feel, but there are all kinds of personalities and people in all walks of life online and we need to be general as can be, and we cannot discriminate. There needs to be 0 tolerance in racism, making fun of someone’s color, orientation, religion, beliefs and how they live their lives. We are all human and deserve love, respect and being treated equal, and fairly.
  • Everybody needs a friend, we all need to feel included, to feel welcome, and be amongst people who care, who needs good advice, love, and being in diversity with all kinds of people. We need to give people positive empowerment.
  • Some people have lived in a toxic lifestyle with nothing but negativity and bad days in their lives, and we need to make sure that these people can be in a place in their lives where they can count on us and it is important to mean it to make them feel better, to take them out of that negativity to be there for them in great ways, to mentor them and to let them know they are not alone and they can come to us at anytime.
  • Social media is open 24/7 365 days a year and there are people in every time zone, It will be amazing and so incredibly beautiful to see social media blossom like flowers to see a fun place for us all to enjoy, be safe and to use it wisely.

This is not some kind of chain letter or those copy and paste posts. This is authentic and very real. This project is very important. I have seen so much as a person who has used social media, since it began before the MySpace days, Asian Avenue and all that. It has been a long time. I have seen a lot of rude and unkind people online and it is very disturbing. We need to combat and make a difference in people’s lives. So important.

What do you think should be done? What are your opinions or suggestions or other measures we can take to get this project underway? Would love to hear from you in the comments below.

This Kindness project will help billions of lives online, and it will make this world a better and safer place. Let’s do this, and let’s start to get things back on track. Now, are you with me on this?

I cannot do this without you. I would appreciate it. Thank you.

The News Media Deliverance – We Want The Truth

In our lives now with constant information being transmitted through our televisions, tablets, cell phones, radio, internet, social media and news sources; we are often caught up on the news as it happens from news media sources. Now, how do we know that we are getting the real truth? Some speculate and suspect that when major news stories hit the headlines of newspapers, and online articles, we think that the news media and parts of social media are hiding the real truth.

These TV, radio, internet stations, editors, writers and how news is conducted and presented to us viewers and listeners is very important. Delivering news no matter how false or how true it is, sometimes we can never know the real deal. Who do we trust? How do we put faith in our news media? How are reporters, anchors and those obtaining information are truly understanding and how are they working on gathering material to present to us? We put our trust in these news stations to give us the truth and wholesome communication.

Sometimes, the bottom line is that these people are being paid to deliver news to us and even though some of them know it is wrong, they have to keep up their job status to prevent themselves from getting fired, so they have to follow the rules and do what they are told to do.

We have seen Anchorman, we have seen Mr. Deeds film and other movies and shows that describe what it takes to be reporters and anchors and it is a big responsibility as the public counts on them to deliver with quality. I think these news media publications need to be more truthful, tell a news as it is and not sugarcoat and hide any secrets as the truth always comes out. Actually, some news stations have been called out because of inaccuracy in news and that builds tension and no trust.

That is why a lot of people opt out of listening to the news and don’t tune in much anymore as the bad seems to dominate more than good news. Now, a lot of people get news from their newsfeeds in social media. We also have to be very careful of the news source. A lot of sites now are full of satire material.

we must learn not to fall for all news and really focus on what and whom we are listening to. Especially nowadays with the COVID19 pandemic, all this chaos we are going through. We need to always hear the truth, and we need to be kept in the loop too. Everything needs to get out in the open. Our lives depend on it and our families, friends and how we need to move forward. We need to be able to see our loved ones again, make memories and more.

When we tell the truth to people, they will appreciate it more because that prepares them for what they need to do. When kids and teens commit crimes, the news must include their names and tell us the truth of who they are, when weather, and other news happens, the news media needs to stop making it so dramatic and by editing a lot of detail and leaving very important aspects of the news out.

We need truth in advertising, in our lives and in our world. Lying to general public will make matters worse. I know it has been like this for a long while, but I wish it wasn’t. We have the ability to change all this, we have the ability to make responsible and good decisions. No matter what deliverance is very important. Lets put trust back into media again, lets put our faith in what we watch.

Quality needs to make a comeback and it is lacking due to mismanagement and lack of communication.

In the comments below, please write your concerns about media. what changes do you want to see? What is your opinion on what media should be? Have you lost trust in what you listen to? Why is news  important to you? would love to hear from you.

The Hard Truth & Sad Reality of Social Media – Devices That Consume Us

The sad reality of how smartphones and other devices are consuming us and face-to-face human interaction and communicating is diminishing and at a rapid rate. We need to set limits within ourselves to go offline, explore our world around us, connect with humans at a personal level, show emotions, and develop our personalities.

This is the fact and the hard truth and it has become a huge problem in our society, when we prioritize what’s on our screens, and play with apps. We no longer need to do any critical thinking anymore, we no longer need to learn the basics, even mathematics, spelling, counting. Everything is done for us and there are apps for everything.

We are putting smartphones and devices first in our lives, and physical communication with people second. Even paying attention to our families and friends have diminished. I see it happen far too often where people get together at restaurants and coffee shops and they sit around not talking, but they are on their phones and showing no emotion, and no personality. It is so sad. Why have we come this far? Why do we have to do this 24/7?

Here I am talking about this on a social media blogging platform.

We have become so dependent on these devices that we even ask Siri and Alexa to do basic chores around the house like taking down decorations for example, but we know that it won’t happen that way, but maybe one day. I wouldn’t put anything past it. Screen time is consuming our time at a very alarming rate.

So much of our lives are going by and we don’t realize it. Spend time with your loved ones and create memories without these screens. want to take pictures? Buy a digital camera and take pictures and then look at them later. Smartphones have made it easy to take pictures and to share instantly too

Our brains are no longer functioning without these devices that we stare at for hours and hours a day. People cannot even put these devices down when driving, walking, and even shopping. This has become a big disease and it is running people’s lives.

It’s very serious. I am very concerned about the coming generations.

These images are so powerful and the description exactly and spot on of what these devices are doing to us. Hopefully, it will make people think about their actions and take these matters seriously. What can we do to combat this? How can we take a break from this all?

I am definitely making changes in my life. Life is too short.

Social Media Spam & Fake Accounts Beware

In the last few years, as technology of communication across the world has become a lot easier with transmitting information instantly across the world with just a single submit, post, or publish button. The world has come a long way with all that and it is incredibly amazing where technology has taken us. Some for the good, and some for the bad. The bad part about social media, e-mails and accounts are spam and fake ones.

I am sure some of us or if not all of us have encountered people saying “If you follow me, you can get instant thousands of followers back”, and then you see these accounts with fake usernames with so many numbers and a name with it like “Joy34342432456” or profile’s with suspicious fake photos, and then they try to add you as a friend, but you don’t even know them. After they send you e-mails saying “Hey, I saw your profile, you look great, and I want to get to know you and some sort of stuff” I am just getting so tired of all these bot’s and fake accounts that are circulating the internet.

I think the most important priority for these social media website creators, and those who work for these social media companies especially the IT, Security and safety teams, should really begin to clean out fake profiles. I know it is easier said than done and sometimes these fake profiles, hackers and everything made it so complicated to tell, but I can tell right away if it is a fake account.

So many things to look at when dealing with a spammer and fake account holder. here is my list:

– They only have 1 photo of themselves or they don’t have a profile photo and they put a picture of a unicorn or something. That becomes suspicious

– When they do not post anything on their profile pages.

– When you hashtag *#* or write about a certain thing on Twitter, an automatic bot will detect people’s status messages and retweet, like and follow you.

– They spam people to look at adult content videos

– They tag you in potential virus content that will mess up the security of your computer that will steal your passwords, and personal information.

– When they say, follow me and you get thousands of followers

– when there are e-mails that are like this “3535serger345gvdrgererwaefqw@swewed34325435fsfsada.com”

and so much more.

You must be so careful on what you add, who you add on your social media accounts.

I am going to begin to set up a petition online for these social media, and e-mail companies to really start cracking down on fake accounts, bots, and spammers to delete, remove and clean up the internet. Instead of focusing on new layouts, exciting new features and updates on these social media outlets, They should really be focusing on and managing security and safety of all the other users, by making it a little harder in the beginning when signing up for an account to ask several questions, to “I’m Not a Robot” or some sort of captcha, number to type down before creating a site, and go through extra steps to ensure safety and security of us all.

We should also be helping out these social media outlets. If you do see something that is not right or if you feel that you are being followed by robots or whatever, tell your social media outlet, report it, send an e-mail or whatever the case maybe, and they will investigate it and deal with it. There are millions and millions of accounts on these social media outlets and Facebook has over 1 billion people worldwide using it, so it can be quite difficult to combat all these accounts, so we as account holders should help them out and report these fake people or IF we can even call them that to them. It is so important.

Do not be discouraged of joining the social media world, just because of these things that are happening. Social Media outlets are awesome and it can be a fun, enjoyable and great place to keep in touch with loved ones, share photos, status messages and everything. I am not deterring anybody from this age in technology, I am just merely suggesting and advising people to really be so careful on who you add, and everything. If you do feel that it is suspicious, please report the account and delete and block it.

Have you been a victim of social media spam? What have you encountered?

Best wishes always, and remember to make wise decisions when Spammers and Bots come to you. best thing to do is to ignore, delete, report and then block. The social media outlet will see that it happened, as everything is on file at their end. Just be safe and enjoy social media.

A Writers Passion

In life all of us, if not most of us in this world have a passion and something or somethings that we are good at, and we should always share that passion with the world. I have a passion and that is writing, telling a story, sharing my experiences, my education, my knowledge, and all the while recognizing, acknowledging things that are happening in the world and that have happened.
I have so much to contribute, write about and do so much for the world in inspiring, sharing, and during that process to being happy and also with what I do and get noticed in the entertainment capital of Los Angeles. I just hope that one day I will catch my big break into that. I am working so hard to reach my goals, to circulate my writings to people in Los Angeles.

Writing is definitely a skill that is so challenging, overwhelming sometimes and also developing writers block where there is a road blockage into rendering more thoughts and fresh ideas. It does happen, but then again a writer always gets out of that road block and gets on the road to write once again. Some write without a rough draft, and some write with brainstorming, outlining and jotting down ideas. For me, I do not need a rough draft. I just write naturally as the thoughts come through my mind and my soul.

If I was residing in Los Angeles, California I would definitely be in the entertainment industry with writing for the big directors, movie companies, soap operas, TV shows, and so much more. I know now with technology and communication that you can sit at home and transmit information to the entertainment industry in Los Angeles, but it is a lot different to sit behind a computer screen and actually being there in the action up close and personal.
It is not about being famous and being popular. It is not about that at all, but merely putting my name out there, to make a legacy for myself, to leave a mark in this world that will have a positive, incredible and wonderful impact that I will have for the citizens of this world of now, tomorrow and future.
As you may or may not know, blogs, social media, article writing, and a lot more important to me. I am so dedicated to my passion and it is a big part of my life and will forever be. It is very hard work and I absolutely love it so much and hopefully people will appreciate that hard work that it takes to write, contribute, distribute, and share to the world.

Bloggers are just as Important as Journalists

In recent years now, technology, social media and ways to communicate with the world have advanced so much. Today writers, journalists, and bloggers have discovered a way to get our feelings, points, experiences, current events, society and education across the world. That is sharing a virtual journal and diary so the world of people can read what we write. I am sure there are still people in this world that do have a hand written journal and keep contributing to it.

Now, I have come across some statuses on Facebook and other means of social media that what bloggers say is not as important as an educated journalist says that has been published in major newsletter and newspaper publications, news broadcasting sites and more. I find that to be very offensive, and so terribly rude of them to even have the audacity to write those things.

Some of us bloggers and those who contribute to social media may not be educated in journalism or some sort of writing programs, but that does not necessarily mean that we do not have a voice and that we do not matter. We are as important as a professional journalist. We also have the right to write what we feel, and nobody is better than the next person. We all have our writing styles, our abilities to share our words, thoughts, experiences, society, news, and updates about our lives and what influences us.

We also have that right to be published in major newspapers when we submit our craft to them. Just because a person has a diploma, certificate that only gets accepted in them doesn’t mean that they are more important than a person who does not possess them. When I e-mail some newspaper publications, they will not even look at me, but then I say you know what? It is their loss for not giving me that chance.

It is not about being famous, putting my name on the map of the world that people will recognize, it is mostly about getting my word across, and feeling great about it that I made someone’s day, that I inspired, educated and gave insight to somebody else who looks for a certain type of information whether it be about a school project, generalizing, and even educating one’s self about anything their heart desires to look up.

Bloggers somehow seem to have a bad rap because we tend to get more personal with our craft and that a blog is not a writing style, but merely an article that is meant for grade school and high school level that English teachers give to students to complete a creative writing assignment.

I am not saying that journalists with a diploma do not have a talent and who are not great at what they do, That is not my intention to say at all. I am saying that we bloggers and of course, journalists all have something to give out and have worked hard to get up there in the world and success is always under construction and improving, and getting up on that ladder will never end. Bloggers too! Even those who just joined the writing and blogging world. No matter how new or advanced we are, we still matter and what we do as well.

Not a lot of people can do what we do, not a lot of people can put words, sentences and phrases like we can, and they look up to us and want to read, get insight, and want us to contribute to their lives and what they are feeling or thinking about at the moment, but do not have the means to share it in writing.

I think that out of the many people who do write blogs on a daily, weekly or monthly basis have a talent, and we must utilize it. We do not have to prove to anyone anything in our craft, but just to shine what has been instilled in us. We all have a talent that we need to shine through and contribute to the world, and if writing and blogging your talent, and if you feel accomplished and good about yourself at the end of the day, then you have done your job. Never give up your passion and never let others rain on your parade. Best wishes to you on your important blogging journey.

Society Has Officially Ran Out Of Things to Talk About

Talking about a Starbucks cup that’s for Christmas. All this time with the Starbucks logo, nothing was said. All of a sudden now?
There are far more important issues to discuss and to bring up rather than a ridiculous cup. It is unbelievable on what great lengths people will go to for something so derogatory and so-called news which should not even be made news.
Some people have way too much time on their hands the way they think of the most bizarre things just so that they can be noticed. People can and will just do anything to get attention for the sake of getting attention. It is disgusting. In all honesty, people really should go find better things to do and think about doing and post on social media or whatever the case maybe with their time. All these useless things on social media and outside of social media do not have to be posted. I cannot stress that enough. Some people will just never learn and will not understand no matter how much some people tell others to stop posting ridiculous things.

Don’t Believe Everything You Read Online

In the last couple of days, we may or may not have seen the status posts about Facebook, its privacy notice and all that. Here is that status message.

“Now it’s official! It has been published in the media. Facebook has just released the entry price: ÂŁ5.99 ($9.10) to keep the subscription of your status to be set to “private.” If you paste this message on your page, it will be offered free (I said paste not share) if not tomorrow, all your posts can become public. Even the messages that have been deleted or the photos not allowed. After all, it does not cost anything for a simple copy and paste.”

Or this one

“As of September 28th , 2015 at 10:50p.m. Eastern standard time, I do not give Facebook or any entities associated with Facebook permission to use my pictures, information, or posts, both past and future. By this statement, I give notice to Facebook it is strictly forbidden to disclose, copy, distribute, or take any other action against me based on this profile and/or its contents. The content of this profile is private and confidential information. The violation of privacy can be punished by law (UCC 1-308- 1 1 308-103 and the Rome Statute). NOTE: Facebook is now a public entity. All members must post a note like this. If you prefer, you can copy and paste this version. If you do not publish a statement at least once it will be tactically allowing the use of your photos, as well as the information contained in the profile status updates.”

If Facebook were to start charging for its services or if an update were to arise, they would post an official message right on top of the News Feed and they would send you an official e-mail from Facebook stating the changes made to the account settings/privacy. This is definitely a hoax and you can tell the way it has been written. Not very professionally might I add, and Facebook will not post like that.

It is somebody that has way too much time on their hands, and wanting to start trouble. People really need to do more productive, inspiring and thoughtful things on the internet, instead of playing around and doing ridiculous things. People need to think about what they post and do online. It is very important to stop doing these things. It is absolutely ridiculous. I just want to tell you that, do not believe everything you see and read on the internet. Don’t fall for the trends. If you have posted these messages on your statuses, please remove them immediately, and share amongst your family, friends, co-workers, classmates as well and if they have posted it as well. Please tell them to remove.

This also goes for any suspicious e-mails that go to your inbox or Junk mail. If you are unsure of an e-mail, please contact me, do a screen shot of it or delete it right away. Also, do not get tricked in sending an e-mail where it asks you for your name, birth date, account information, and all that. It is fraudulent and can lead to identity theft, viruses and much more and can result in an unfortunate hassle, which can lead to a headache of draining your bank account, and your name and existence.

The internet is a fun and wonderful place full of information and research on your favourite actor, actress, movies, facts, recipes, watching videos, social media and e-mail which you can connect, communicate with your loved ones, co-workers, and make new friends. Ultimately, it is how you utilize the internet that makes it all the fun and awesome.

Just because everybody is concentrating and involved in a trend online, it doesn’t mean that you have to do the same. Don’t fall for it. It is common sense. Be careful. Prevention is key to a safe, fun, and educational environment.

So, think about it.

Have you been tricked online before?

What advice do you have for issues like this?

Would like to hear from you.

Interviewing Myself About My Social Media Journey

A few people have been asking me questions lately about my Social Media journey, and what empowered me to start being active in this whole new way of communicating to the world instantly. Well, here are questions that I am going to be interviewing myself with:

1. How many years have you been active in Social Media?

In May of 2000, I joined AsianAvenue.com, Black Planet, Migente all around that time. Which is about 15 years and almost 2 months, that I have been active, then couple of years later, I joined Myspace.

2. How did you educate yourself in Social Media?

When I began to be educated on what Social Media really is. I began writing, changing my layout of my pages in Asian Avenue, Migente, Black Planet and Myspace. I had hours of fun changing pictures, writing short stories, shout-outs to people, putting avatars, symbols HTML, Style CSS codes. That is when I began to really enjoy myself, and then that is where I launched myself into the Internet world.

3. What was your very first Blog Site to write in? (+ Other sites)

LiveJournal was my first website that I started to write in, then I went to Blogger from Google. Now in present day, I have been on WordPress the longest.

4. What have you been through to get this far to Social Media today?

Well, as a lot of people in Social Media and blogging begin to think in the beginning, ask a lot of questions and inquire on How are people going to engage into my postings? How Can I get out there to be noticed? What do I need to do to be successful? Well, I went through so much to get to where I am today. I began to do extensive research online about how to attract readers, and amongst how to get through the challenging aspects of it all. I then began to learn to tag my posts, so it can be seen by so many people, then I began asking questions and getting feedback from others who are in the same boat as me and who have gone through it all. Soon after I began to get comfortable with it all, I was in a whole new world of communication. It was not easy. For months I did not receive any comments, readers, and those who were engaging into my site. So I put it into action and began to make friends all over the internet, and then my journey officially began.

5. What would you say was the most struggling aspect of your Social Media Journey. Does it still apply to you in present day?

Well, the most struggling aspect of social media, is that right now there is just so many bloggers, so many people in social media and they all want practically the same thing. To be noticed, for people to engage, share, like, and comment on posts. I must say the getting noticed part is the most difficult aspect of it all and which audience you want your content to be available to.

6. Does your family and friends support you in your journey through Social Media?

Yes, definitely. Without the support, foundation from my family and friends, I wouldn’t be where I am today, and I wouldn’t be here conducting this interview for myself. I thank them very much for standing behind in what I love to do, what I am pursuing in all of this, and as well as inspiring the world with my writings, talents and so much more.

7. What do you like to write about?

I like to write about various things such as travel, tips, advice, inspiring stories, stories that have happened to me, promoting others, recipes, causes, and much more.

8. Did you ever have writers block?

Yes, several times. Sometimes as a writer, My mind freezes up and do not have anymore capacity in my brain to come up with new topics, and what to do next. Then after a few days go by, things start coming back to me, and begin to write again.

9. What advice do you have for aspiring and up and coming social media activists?

Just to take your time with social media. Do not rush into getting so much viewership, and engaged readers. It takes time to establish yourself. Well, not all the time. Also to always make sure your site is searchable, to add keywords, tag posts and engage in other peoples social media journey as well.

Over Sharing on Social Media Really Needs to Stop – Furious 7 Movie

2 days ago when I was observing my News feeds and amongst other social media websites, something really began to bother me in so many ways. One that hit close to home and one that I just cannot believe. I know that the social media has boomed and has become one of the most biggest information hubs of the world, and I never knew how some people can just post anything without thinking until a couple of days ago. I just cannot believe it. It is too much. I mean enough is enough. This really pushed my buttons this time. I cannot endure that disrespectful acts from people. Just because a film just came into theaters it does not mean that you have to right away ruin it for people, and post every single darn thing. It is not cool at all.

With all due respect of the Late Paul Walker and his memory who died in 2013, November..  To all those who were close to him, his loved ones, his Fast family, the fans, I find it very disrespectful and wrong of people who are spoiling, over sharing the movie and taking parts of the movie and putting it out there, spending all that time with creating gif’s, memes, and video posts already on social media sites. This is not good to do, especially when there are such highly devoted Fans of the Furious 7 family and dishonoring Paul’s memory that way. I see people already spoiling the ending and everything and showcasing it to the world to see. It is not fair. People really need to stop that. I do not find it to be amusing at all.

Film Makers, Actors, Actresses, and everyone involved in movies work so hard, the production is hard work, very hard. Some people do not realize how much work, time, tons of money and effort is involved in making these films shine, and for them to make to our local movie theaters, then we have people who copy and use their smart phones or whatever device, to record the movie, to blab it out for everybody else is just so insensitive and down right disgraceful to those people involved in that production and directing.

There is no excuse in the book. It is never right to copy, re-produce something without written consent and permission from the intellectual owner/s of that production or whatever the case maybe. Not just in movies, but in our general life. If something is not yours and if you want it, ask for it, get written permission, do whatever you can to get things in writing before sharing somebody elses work. It is the right thing to do.

Just because it is social media, it does not mean that we have to post everything and anything we hear about, see, and do. Some things are meant to be private.

Furious 7 has not even been a week yet since the April 3rd, 2015 release and I keep seeing all these videos of the movie, and most importantly the best highlights, especially the ending part. I mean seriously? Is this a way some people want to honor and Respect Paul Walker and his cast-mates and film makers?

I saw it on Sunday April 5th, 2015 and I have not given anything away, as should be, but people do not think, people blab everything and it is not very good. Go see it in the theaters or wait to buy the movie, but don’t spoil and ruin it for everyone else who has not seen it yet. I just find that to be really terrible and thoughtless.

So enough is enough… Over Sharing needs to stop. It is really ridiculous having to spoil something for people whom have been looking forward to seeing the movie Furious 7. Instead of keeping people in suspense, and their eagerness to go to the movie theaters or the anticipation of seeing it on DVD in your own homes when the movie comes out. It ruins the fun, it ruins the curiosity. Thanks for understanding my view-point, because it is just craziness.

RIP Paul Walker — I Love you so much.

Social Media Mistakes We Should Not Make

In the last few years, communication, transmitting information instantly has become a whole lot easier with social media on the rise, and the way some people use social media is great, positive, empowering ways to help others, to inspire and use it wisely, however today I am here to talk to you about the social media mistakes that some people are making, and have made. Some do not even realize the mistakes they make because they think it is socially acceptable in society today, but I am going to decipher them to assist people on making the right choices in social media.

Here are the mistakes of Social Media:

1. Do not get so personal

Do not overshare your personal life with everybody. Nobody needs to know what you are doing constantly, where you are going 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Some things are meant to be kept private. Do not share passwords, credit card information, address, your financial history, amongst what happens in your family, you do not need to share that you are doing laundry, cleaning, eating, having a beverage, when you go to bed, when you shower, and those common things. That is an open invitation to the world to your home and your life. Keep that off the internet.

2. Ridiculously time-wasting trends online.

Just because so many people are trending a ridiculous and derogatory trend, does not mean you have to join in on it. It is like if someone jumps off a cliff, don’t go and do the same thing for the sake of doing it to get out there to get your name noticed. Just don’t fall into that trap. It is a waste of time. Focus on more important trends that actually does make sense in the world.

3. Bringing personal issues that arise amongst friends

Never bring your personal issues with your friends onto social media. Whatever problems and concerns you have with your friend or friends, it is a good idea to take it up with them and not post it on social media and send out negative waves to everyone else. Some may not put peoples name onto it, but people will always put two and two together and decipher who it is, so do not bring personal matters on the internet. Solve problems face to face, be honest and tell each other the truth. Friends will appreciate that. You can lose friends and bonds with people and you do not want that. Do not be an open book and post everything. Things are always meant to be private.

4. Not delivering what you promise your readers

When you say you will be writing an article, or bringing up a particular issue about a certain subject and don’t write about it and do not post it, people will anticipate that article or story and then give up and won’t come back to your site because you are not delivering what you say you will write about. You lose your viewership and followers that way.

5. Not being original and not being yourself.

Do not go with the norm of the internet and make yourself into the common category. There is so much each of us can contribute to social media and the internet in different ways. Be yourself and do not copy everybody else. People can detect a phony and you do not want that type of reputation made against you. Come up with your own content, your style and how you want to portray yourself. If you are going to copy someone, give them full credit, the sources the information came from, who it is from, and try to contact them if you are able to that you are using their content on your website. Not crediting can get you into trouble.

6. Not Optimizing your social media efforts fully.

We all want to succeed and make a name of ourselves in social media, however with each social media site comes settings, layouts and how to keep your social media sites up to date. Look at your stats, followers, engagement to your site, look at different templates, make your social media site eye-catchy, use captions and headlines that grab people’s attention. Go behind the scenes and discover what you can do with social media outlets.

I keep hearing people say, “I do not know how to use certain features, how to get there“, so on and so forth. Well, of course, if you do not do the proper research and play and tweak with all the settings, you won’t know. Give them a try, if you need help, do not hesitate to ask, also each social media site has tutorials, help guides and directions on how to get to certain settings that you want. Don’t be afraid to try new things.

7. Not make yourself searchable on Search engines and social media sites.

When people say that, how come people are not coming to my site? How come people are not liking my posts and commenting? Well, it is because you do not have your site searchable, and because you have to add as much content as possible about a certain issue or whatever you want to address. When you are in social media, it means that you are not private anymore, it means that whatever you post can be searched, and you signed up to be on a social media site, so making stuff private is not so private. If you want a successful engagement to your site, then lift the restrictions in your settings.

8. Never spam and force people.

One mistake made by some people is that, they spam the internet everywhere, every group page, every website imagined, people post their websites, social media articles and content and force people to come by a website, and especially spam every persons news feed and repeat tweets about something thinking oh someone cannot see what I post, well, they can. Less is more. Always remember that. Never force people to engage into your social media sites. That there can lead to a red flag and people won’t want to come back and then those people will tell others not to come to your site, and then you will see your viewership decline. Let your viewership increase naturally. Don’t go overboard.

9. Never use people to share your content when you have never spoken to them or haven’t spoken to them in a while.

Oh there is a petition going around, there is a contest going around, there is an issue going around or simply just sharing what you have to contribute. Do not private message people you have not spoken with at all or for a while and ask them to sign a petition, or share a contest so that person can win or whatever and issues that need to be raised awareness of. It is using people and that is very wrong. don’t be direct by just sharing whatever you have with them. Do not talk to a person just for the sake of talking to them and then putting them on the spot to share something, to buy something or whatever it is. Not very polite and nice.

Setting A Good Example In Social Media Outlets

In recent years, technologists, entrepreneurs, creators of social media outlets have made it very easy to communicate with friends, family, co-workers, keeping in touch and as well as making new friends. When we are on the internet, we are automatically in a social media world. No matter how and why we use it for. We are all in this now.

Unfortunately we share social media with people who hide behind their computer screens that cause trouble and use social media to slander, to use social media in negative ways, calling people names, insulting and creating negative and offending memes that attack, bully and hurt somebody is something that is and should be uncalled for as well as unacceptable. A lot of these individuals/groups think that they cannot be caught, but they can be. Whatever is posted on social media is there forever and can never be deleted even if you press on the delete and remove buttons. People who hide behind the computer screen think they are superior and better then everybody else and think that Oh I can swear and, insult and hurt people and it is okay, but really it isn’t. You make a fool out of yourself.

People can get into serious trouble with posts if taken to authorities and have things investigated. It is so very easy to detect where and who these posts came from.

There are some website articles and photos I have seen and I have read some really nasty posts, rude, offensive, distasteful, cursing, snide remarks and comments and I wonder to myself how these people have been raised, why they have to do this, why they need to resort to this type of attitude where and how they can be so thoughtless and write things without thinking about it before clicking on that post, submit buttons. It is beyond me on how some people are allowed and be tolerated to demonstrate that kind of behavior online. No matter what it is, people do have a choice on what to post. If you really have nothing nice to say to somebody, please do not say it at all and do not post it on social media where everybody else can see. People of all ages are on the internet. The bottom line always comes down to choice.

I sometimes ponder to myself on what is coming to this world? Why does negativity, useless, pointless and utter stupidity of some people get so much attention, whereas great, positivity and good things people do go unnoticed on the internet and in our day to day lives? I mean yes they get so many viewers and become famous, however there are people who do something so terrible to get attention and when it gets posted, it becomes a trend within the hour or 2. Instantly the world knows about it and then it becomes a sensation. It is beyond me on why people spend so much time making memes, jokes on things that are so ridiculous.

Instead of spending time with uselessness, take a few moments to think about what to do before posting it. It saves a lot of hassle and ridicule. Also utilize your time better with positive, happy, inspiring and beautiful things that can change our world for the better instead of downgrading and pulling society down lower.

Some people have forgotten and do not know the purpose of social media. It means to keep in touch and communicate, as well as inspiring people, being thoughtful, to be kind, to be nice and to empower the world with our words to make this world wide web and the people in it a better place, to make someones day better. We all come to the internet in whatever we desire and to de-stress ourselves to read positive and great things, to have fun and be productive in what we do. As long as it is something that is a good example to contribute to our world, then it is all good.

Respect each other, and help each other out.

We have the choice to change the world to make it better and it all starts with what we choose. There is nothing and no excuse to say that you have “No Choice,” Because you do have “A Choice“. Think and use your time wisely on social media sites. Whatever is going on in your personal life, does not have to be broadcasted on social media. All the best and make the right decisions. It will impact you, your future and the social media world. Think before you submit.

Understanding Social Media – Twitter

Since April, 2007, Twitter launched its social media website to the world. Twitter’s headquarters is located in San Francisco, California, where then eventually many offices were open in the United States, as well as the world. Millions of people have now created accounts since its launch. Twitter is a social media website where people share instantly without barriers of create ideas, advertising ones own business, as well as promoting events, causes, raising awareness on issues of the world, trending the news, popular words, phrases, currents events and more with 140 Characters or less.

In August of 2007, Chris Messina had incorporated the Hashtag “#” sign which is the number sign, which makes it easier and what will attract the world with certain keywords used to promote, advertise and make something popular with the hopes that it will begin to trend. For example, when you create hashtags such as #People #SocialMedia #Life #Love #Travel – and then if another person decides to write the same Hashtags, it will come up on the same page, and it will be like a chat room where people can communicate with each other, as well as if something is found to be interesting, they will add someones tweet to their favourites and re-tweet it on their page.

You will then receive notifications, that what you post on where it is and who has posted it on their pages. When people find something or someone interesting, they may or may not start following them and adding them on their list.
I know you are probably thinking, what can I write and share in 140 Characters or less? Well, there is a lot you can do in that limit. There is always something somebody is searching for and Twitter has made it easier to share it with the world. You can post photos, links, personal websites, and so much more which of course with obeying Twitters terms of service. Twitter also has a short link generator, which you can find the twitter short link generator and save space in the status message you are about to share. You can find it on a search engine site of your choice.

There are quite a few people that have told me, what is twitter? How can I understand it? why did it become so popular? Well, it is a social media website that has blossomed like wild flowers in the world. Like I said in my previous articles, people will search for anything, and when it comes on the news about a new website, and they begin to advertise so much on Media outlets, it will be a huge hit and sensation in the world. Twitter still is after 8 years.

I am so happy with Twitter. I feel that it has gotten so much easier to raise awareness about certain topics and issues of the world, and to address important subjects to our society. Thank you Twitter for giving us all an opportunity to get out there, to achieve, and to do what our hearts desire to the world. If you do not have an account with twitter, make one, it will make it so much easier to share blogs, ideas and so much more that you want to contribute to the world.

I wish Twitter and its staff all the best and many more years of trending, re-tweeting, tweeting, sharing and more. Thanks twitter.

The Social Media Information Overload

In the life and times of the society we are in, We keep hearing about Social Media and the many websites and how technology has changed so much with communication and how the internet is the biggest information/communication hub of the world now and I know in the last few posts, I have written about it, however this is such a thing as Social Media Information Overload, however that should never deter you from putting yourself, your ideas, suggestions, experiences, stories and more out there. There are many people in this world who want to look for different types of information in different context and there is always some type of information out there for everyone.

I know Social media is a huge topic and starting out and beginning your journey is something that can be frustrating and so intimidating, that you just want to give up quickly and not give it a chance. When I began blogging, writing and putting myself out there in the public eye, I never thought that I would get this far. I read many blogs, and tutorials on social media and how to get myself out there and I began following those instructions, then gradually I began getting so much feedback and so much more out of it. At first, I thought this is such a waste of time, and I won’t get anywhere, but then I gave it a chance, and everything fell into place. You just need to give it the green light.

I know some people are probably thinking, how of hundreds and thousands of blogs, twitter posts and all the writings, articles of the world, how someone can get to my site, and see my posts and things that I put out there to see? Well, it is very easy with over 3 Billion people who use the internet, it is very easy for so many people out of those billions of people who want to search for something that interests them and they will go through many sites to find it and they will get onto your site. It is pretty neat to be shown on Search Engine sites, and with searching for a topic or something is easy. People will sift through many search engine pages and when they see a blog or something that interests them, they will click on your site and see the content they want, then they might share it amongst their family and friends, and then will share it on their social media sites.

Some tips to take note of and a word of advice when beginning your social media journey:

– Be Patient
– Engage, Discover, Deliver
– Read Social Media Tutorials
– Get on Social Media Marketing websites and receive e-mails on articles
– Keep writing, Posting material
– Give yourself and your social media journey a chance
– Get on Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook
– When you are on twitter hashtags like this #hashtags #blogs #socialmedia is important to spread out with whatever topics you want to share in 140 Characters or less.
– Never take take take – Give as well.

When you are in social media, do not make it a competition of “Oh I am better than everyone else” approach “My material is the best” attitude. People automatically feel the way things are written online, and if people feel that someone is complimenting themselves so much and becoming a center of attention, it becomes less interesting to engage into that persons website. Never make someone feel that their material and what they write is something that is not good or don’t make people feel that what they have to say isn’t important. We are all important, and what we all have to say is something that is good to read. Never slander and insult somebody because of it. We all have something incredible and wonderful to contribute to in the world.

All in all, Social Media is a great thing to be in. It is a communication of information that can be beneficial for everyone. So take the chance and see where it takes you. Have fun and best wishes!

My Vision of Empowerment of Social Media

Since social media has been a big trend on the internet and the world, We all have different outlooks and perspectives toward the vision of empowerment and communications that social media has that a lot of people are in, however my vision for social media and what I want to get out of it is to inspire, share my views/opinions and to educate others in the life experiences I have had and will continue to have. My vision is to raise awareness on certain issues that have me deeply interested in and to make a difference one person and many people at a time.

Some people create blogs, and become active on social media to see where things will take each and everyone of us and the purpose we have to get to that point. Still, I think the traditional word of mouth is something much more powerful, however with this new age in technology, with communication that has gotten a lot easier than years ago, information gets sent instantly on the other side of the world with just a click of a button. It is incredible where inventions, technology has led us to a new realm of today, tomorrow and the future.

Social media has different levels of how we look at it, some always want it to be fun with posting funny jokes, memes, and doing funny things all the time, some post inspirational quotes, some post photos of themselves and/or with friends/family, postings about so many things.

Advertising has become a lot easier with posting events, flyers, sharing it on twitter, on Facebook news feeds, walls, inviting people to pages, fan pages, groups, also making it easy to RSVP to events, people post up greeting cards, Photoshopping, and all kinds of interesting and neat things. Social media is a huge thing in the world right now and it is getting more popular as time goes by.

A few people have messaged me in the last few years and have asked me “What are you getting out of social media”? My answer is simple, to empower, to communicate, to keep in touch, to meet new people, inspire, and with the hopes of changing the world and the perspective on life with my words and to spread love, happiness, joy and smiles across the globe. Once someone posts something, it is out there for the world to see.

We all understand social media in different context and ways and what we define our vision of it is. Some use social media to communicate with family and friends, some use it for business/commercial use and as well as many other things. No matter how we look at social media, we must always be very careful of the information we transmit and not post anything and everything that goes on in our lives for the world to see.

The biggest vision of mine is to communicate to the world through my eyes, my words, and my thoughts to the world as much as possible.
