Remembering The Veterans Of Remembrance Day – November 11

Today, I want to take this moment for remembrance day in Canada to remember the veterans we lost in the wars and in battle. Lest we forget. Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae had written these words of Flanders Fields.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place: and in the sky
The larks still bravely singing fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead: Short days ago,
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved and were loved: and now we lie
In Flanders fields!

Take up our quarrel with the foe
To you, from failing hands, we throw
The torch: be yours to hold it high
If ye break faith with us who die,
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields

By Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae

Canadian Forces Base (CFB) of Canada’s Armed Force Bases will be commemorating and honouring the veterans. When I am on Highway 401 East going toward Trenton and then coming back west to Toronto, I am sure you see the signs like Highway of Heros or Autoroute Des Heroes with a big poppy. The poppy symbolizes remembrance and Poppies were everywhere. Now the Highway of Heros symbolizes those who have died in battle and who come home to Canada, and officers and military, firefighters, police officers, all do a procession on the highway and I have seen it a few times when I went to Montreal and coming back. Today I want to take a moment to remember them all and I hope these wars stop, bring the troops back home where they belong and lets stop all the hatred in the world. The Army can be helpful in others ways. Not fighting. To Be trained for snow days, to be trained for offering good services to Canada and the world. We automatically think that Canadian Army or other Army of the world is all about fighting, but it shouldn’t be about fighting, they can do services such as helping the elderly, going to boy and girl scouts and teaching them things, and among things that do not involve killing, shooting. It has got to stop. So many people are dying and have died because of wars that are pointless and that shouldn’t be, but today we remember November 11, the eleventh day, eleventh month, the eleventh hour. Lets all stand together and stop present and future wars that are brewing.
God Rest our Veterans Souls.

Remembrance Poppy Thieves – Its Unbelievable

Recently on the news we heard of these poppy thieves, and when I first heard of this news, I thought, no this can’t be. Why or How could somebody or some people steal poppy donation boxes? It is such a heartless act and it is a total disrespect to our veterans who fought so hard for our country’s freedom and the way our country is shaped today.  It is so disgraceful. There are so many people in this society these days that have totally gone crazy. I cannot even put it to words on how disgusting and terrible that is. Stealing is a no no, and especially stealing from a cause and from an important part of Canadian History is so terribly wrong.

November 11th is coming and wearing a poppy is important. It is a way to show respect for our veterans and donating to the legions and to our soldiers is really important.  Get a poppy today, wear it.
