Residential Area’s and Fireworks. There is a place for Everything

We all know when Holiday’s approach that people venture out to buy their own fireworks to blow up and they find the thrill to do their own fire show on celebration days on their streets where there are homes, other residents, vehicles, trees or whatever else there can be. It is a fun and awesome thing.

Although Fireworks can be pretty and exciting to see, however it can also pose as a danger as well. especially in residential areas where it is unsafe and it can become that way as well. One wrong move, if the fire goes the wrong way or the spark, something serious can happen such as, damaging a home, cars, trees and even worse and ultimately can hurt/injure somebody and then having to live with the agony afterwards.

There is a place for everything, and fireworks are not meant to be blown up in residential area’s. It doesn’t matter if people have been doing it for years, and how professional someone can be with it, but I am sure there are wide open areas where you can go. I am not telling anybody what to do, but it is for your own safety and for everyone around you. It can be dangerous.

I get so petrified every single time a celebration day comes along. It should be illegal and banned from residential areas. I know some people still do it in places that it is banned. I do not understand why people know the laws and still have to do things and endanger themselves and others around them. Some people are so selfish. They only think of themselves and the thrill they seek, but it doesn’t matter if it hurts and affects other people’s well-being and they think they are the only ones on the street who live there. Things have to change. People need to look out for each other, especially when you are surrounded by other residents and homes.

I am not telling you, not to have fun, but come on, people should know better than that to not do it where its unsafe.

Please be responsible, and do it elsewhere.

Thanks and all the best.

Duty Free Shopping At The Airport Does Not Make Sense To Me.

I have just been thinking a lot lately about the whole airport experiences and things I have seen while traveling within the past 5-6 years. In recent years air travel and security screenings at the airports has been enforced a lot more since the September 11, 2001 terror attacks and I am all for it and I think the more security we have, the better it will be for all travelers including myself and those are great measures to ensure our well-being. They implemented the No Liquids in Carry on bag and all that stuff. I am glad security is tightened a lot more and the customs have been more aware of these things.

However, there is something that does not seem to make sense to me. I was traveling to Cayo, Coco, Cuba 2 years ago and I had an unopened bottle of Water from me where I bought it straight from the Grocery store, and after having our tickets and baggage checked in, we went toward the metal screening and security area before entering the gates to wait for our plane. This Customs person came and discarded the water I was going to drink until we boarded the flight. So I told them Customs, it is just water, I am going to drink it before I get on the plane while I wait, she said that we cannot allow liquids beyond the gates and we need to dump it out. So without further question, I followed the rules and I proceeded. As I went through the Metal screening process everything was great. Right across from the metal screening, there is these shops and duty free. So I began to ponder about why they discarded my unopened bottled water when they have all these liquids, drinks, perfume bottles, make up, personal hygiene products, coffee, and even sharp objects like nail clippers, tweezers, so on and so forth being sold.

Now, I got so angry at this point but decided not to cause a scene at the airport, so I had to purchase another unopened bottled water which cost me a lot more. It was like $3.50 for a bottle water when I bought mine from the grocery store for a $1.25. So the point is, that they don’t allow liquids being brought in, but they go and sell it at duty free, which does not make any sense to me. I came with a conclusion that they make you spend money at duty free and airport shops before boarding your plane so that the airport and the shops make more money off of you. Thats what I am thinking. I feel that its also a business. I don’t know but that’s just my take on it. I could be wrong, but everyone has different perspectives on things.

Thanks for reading!

Because we are getting into Winter driving and Christmas and New Year Holidays are coming up, I’d like to stay on the subject of Practicing safe driving and arriving alive at your destination from Point A TO B

Dear OPP,

I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the services you provide on the 400 series highways. I always see OPP Presence on my way from Toronto to Montreal on Highway 401 east and west several times per month when I go visit my friends and family there. I must say great job to the hard working officers of OPP for making our roads safe and stopping reckless speeders and those who do not follow the rules of the road and the laws. I always see OPP radaring, and I really love the spots you choose to hide. I would really like to see everybody follow the rules and i wish all drivers can be more aware of what they do and the actions they take. People should be more aware, alert on their driving and develop good driving habits that can save lives and prevent serious personal injury. Thanks again OPP for everything you do. I will be traveling to Montreal soon I hope. I have missed it so much. It always feels like I am going on it for the first time and the excitement to drive on my favourite highways in unlike any other. I really like the R.I.D.E Programs because It is important to check drinking drivers and to prevent serious issues after. If caught it is a crime and it will stay on your driving record. Practice safety on the road. It is very important.

Now that Winter is coming up and with snow just around the corner. This may not apply to a lot of my readers, but to those who it might, be safe, make sure you have windshield washing fluid, the snow brushes and scrapers in your car, Booster Cable, Warm Blanket, Water, Snacks, Make sure you have the right tires for winter for traction control and stability on the icy slippery roads. You never know when you might drive on black ice and that is the worst. Have a vehicle emergency kit handy, make sure your oil and coolant levels are normal and checked regularly, make sure your tires are properly checked for pressure and meets the guidelines in your Owners Manual of how much PSI AIR needed to fill your tires. BE ALERT, ARRIVE ALIVE, DRIVE SOBER, Make sure your Vehicle is also safe. You do wonders with that.

An Avid Highway 401 USER AND DRIVER,
