My Sweet 16 Birthday that Never happened

When I was in high school and about to turn 16, I have heard about the sweet 16’s birthday parties and the fun those people had, and planned their birthdays that it was perfect, the people who had gone to those parties, the decorations, the planning all kicked off perfectly.

Even though I did not have friends back in the day, and those who I thought were somehow, I decided to throw a sweet 16 birthday party for me. As I had invited 20 people from my school. So now when it came toward the last couple of days to my birthday, I assured people to ask if they are going to be attending my birthday and they said yes we will be there. I got so excited. I remember it was April 28, 2001, on a Saturday and Monday is my real birthday on the 30th, and decided to have it 2 days early because of School on the right day.

As I had begun decorating, and had ordered the cake and the food, as well has putting some games so people can play. As the time was nearing for people to come, I got so excited that I stood by the door to wait for them to come, my anticipation was growing deeper. As I looked at the time again and it was 2pm where the time said on the invitations, I look at the clock and it said 2:15. I said ok its ok, they are running late. Then one person came around 2:30, I welcome her into the house and she decided to wait with me. then it became almost 4pm, and it was just her and I was devastated, humiliated, embarrassed, and crying so much.

That one girl who came to my party wiped my tears away and said it will be ok. Don’t worry, I am here. lets enjoy together. Who cares about the rest that stood you up? I said yeah you are right. So we enjoyed the food, and desert and cake and watched a couple of movies until it was time for her to go home. She hugged me and said, Talin, do not worry about anybody else, they are cowards. God is watching them. Then she left as her mom came and picked her up. My heart shattered to pieces. It was a feeling that I never wish on anybody else.

After her leaving, I let out a huge cry. I said, I cannot believe this happened to me and my mom comforted me and told me, don’t worry God will punish them. So Monday came and I was still crying and devastated. I did not enjoy my real 16th birthday, but I did go out to dinner with my family, which made everything better. I actually skipped school for a couple of days and just stood home. I just didn’t feel like seeing anybody. Then I decided to go to school on the Wednesday, and none of them said I am sorry and did not bother to give me an explanation as to why they did that. All the planning, food and everything went to waste, however we kept the food and ate it throughout the week.

From then on, I didn’t care about interacting with anybody and I just went about and studied, did my homework, attended all my classes, and then once school was finished, I’d never waste another second and just go home. I was so disgusted. That one girl changed schools the year after because her family had moved somewhere further, and that really made me even cry more. She was the only one who really cared. It was so nice of her. I still have the give she gave me 14-15 years later.

As I reached another milestone this year. At the end of April on the 30th of 2015, I will be celebrating my champagne birthday turning 30 on 30 and it is coming up so quickly. As I almost say Goodbye to my 20’s, I am truly hoping that I can have a sweet 30th birthday that will make up for the sweet 16th birthday I never had. I know it is not good to expect it, but when you’ve never had a birthday party reaching a milestone, it makes you wonder how and what might have been. I just want to have a great time with my lovely and beautiful loved ones I have in my life which really matter to me more than anything else.

Have you experienced a disappointing turnout at a party or function you have had? I am sure you felt humiliated and distraught. Have you had a similar situation where people didn’t bother to show up and not telling you why and not having the common decency to call and explain? If you have, I am so sorry to hear that. I know exactly how you feel. It is not a good feeling at all.

Hopefully nobody has to go through what I went through. Best wishes to you and may your dreams come true, because everyday is our birthday and celebrate it by the gift of breathing and living through another day. We are blessed and that is what matters the most.

Went Through My Childhood Diary – Did You Have One?

Since I was a child, I bought a diary to write my most private thoughts, used it to draw pictures of hearts, sun, stick figurines, and more. I just came across my diary this morning. I haven’t opened it up in more than 13 years. I cannot believe the things I had written and done in there. I forgot some of the things too, but It totally refreshed my memory. I remember I made a goal to write into it about my daily life, but I didn’t get to do it. I remember how I used it to draw mostly and I used to be intrigued by eyebrow shapes, so I used to create eyebrow shapes, I used to draw the beach, and the shore, because when I was little at 7-8 years of age, I had taken my first trip out to the beach and flying too, so I put all those in my Diary. I stopped writing and drawing in my diary when I was about 12 years old, and when I turned 13, I stopped playing with dolls and barbies too. Now as I look back into my Diary there were so many things I wrote about my school crushes, about the people I liked, people I didn’t like, and I wrote about how people used to really bully me because I was different then everyone else, and I never used to let anybody read and see my diary. I always kept it in a private place in my room that not even my mom could find it.

Now, I have my diary in one of my memories boxes and sometimes I take it out to just look and see what I have, and sometimes I forget what I have. So its really nice to spend some time to look at past memories and see how big of a difference in time there is. I love diaries, I love keeping these things because its a sentimental value to me and all the memories that are filled in those diaries and memorable things I kept from the past. I still have not shown it to anyone and I probably never will, but maybe I will in the long run. Lets see what happens. In the last one to two years of writing in my diary those coloured gel pens, hybrid, neon coloured pens came out and everyone started having them, so I decided I want some too, so I had a big collection of them and I started writing letters, diaries, and everything with that. I made friends from when I went to Daytona Beach, Florida and they came from England back in 1997-1998, and I started to write to them with these gel pens and we kept writing to each other back and forth for about 4 years and then that is when e-mail came to place and then we kept in touch from then on.

It is pretty neat on how time plays a big impact on how diaries, letters are written, and now our diary is our blog and virtually and technology has evolved a lot since then. How many of you have had diaries when you were little? Do you still have them now? Do you know anybody who still writes in a journal book? I don’t know how many do, but now blogging, and writing journals online has changed the way diaries are written, and to me, nothing beats writing and using imagination in hand written diaries, decorating it, arts and crafts. Although writing a blog online and on a computer also has its greatness, but really, nothing beats being crafty and doing hands on things. How about you?

I Am In Love With My KitchenAid Stand Mixer

Since I got my KitchenAid Stand Mixer life has gotten so much simpler with cooking and baking different types of food, and My hands don’t get tired anymore with mixing with a whisk and a hand held food mixer. Now my kitchenaid stand mixer does all the work and it is so beautiful. I have a flashy white one and its an ultra power plus one. Very good quality. Well, even if its an Artisan, Classic, Professional, all of them do a great job in mixing the batter or mixture well. I make all sorts of things into it. I love the wire whip, kneading dough, and all the accessories. my next purchase is going to be the pasta maker accessory and the other ones. Anything else in the kitchen doesn’t quite add up to the kitchenaid stand mixer. Can’t believe all the colours it comes with now. I have seen it at the stores and there is Pink, Orange, Copper Orange, Black, Red, Purple, Tangerine Orange, White, and you can even customize your own kitchen aid stand mixer if you special order it, but why do that when you can buy it at the store instantly right? LOL.. But it all depends on what your preference is, but I love my baby and it is so beautiful. Each household, should have one of these. It is a great tool in the kitchen. If you have one, I am sure you can relate to me and the passion you have for it. I even kiss mine after I use it for good luck for the next time I use it. I love it so much. These kitchenaid mixers are not cheap either. They happen to be a lot of money if they are not on sale. Some are over 500 bucks, some are over 700 bucks, but if you get it on sale its like 250, 300 bucks, but then again they do run expensive because of the high quality and the way it is made. So I can for sure relate as to why it is expensive. This baby is gorgeous. I will be using it today to make my cake. 🙂 I have a lot of things to do today. I will be cooking and baking this week so it will be ready for Christmas. I can’t wait to use it today. I use this baby at least 3 times a week. If you need tips and tricks on how to work it and what speed, just let me know. Depends on what you make.

This would be a great purchase or a gift to your loved ones or someone very special who loves cooking in your family. They would love it. 🙂

Enjoy and have a great Christmas and Happy New Year almost.

🙂

Nothing Like Organization, Neatness, & Cleanliness

Since I was a child, I have always learned the importance of organization, neatness and cleanliness. I do not like things out of place, and I even fold my clothes, and hang my clothes according to colour and type of clothing it is. I make filing systems for all my things, I organize my things with the new modern looking storage boxes, dividers, drawer organizers, pen, staple, scissor holders, plastic drawers, I clean all the dust at least twice a week, regular washroom maintenance every other day. I really enjoy cleaning the house, and cleaning my own space and being neat, vacuuming, washing dishes, doing laundry, washing sheets and towels weekly, folding laundry, cooking, mopping and washing the floors. I really enjoy doing it. I know some people don’t, but it is fun when you make it fun. I listen to music, think of happy thoughts, and just going through a fun time. I just love being organized too so that I know where everything is in the house, so that if I am looking for something, I know exactly where to find it and I don’t have to spend hours just looking for something. I remember when I was in my teens, and a few people came over to my house, and I remember them saying, your home is spotless, and I said thank you so much. It felt good when others notice that instantly when they come over. When you least expect it, people can come over to my place, so I like to upkeep it all the time and even if people don’t come over, it will be a clean house to live in and being proud of it being clean and tidy. I usually use vinegar and water most of the time to mop the floors, clean surfaces, and then the whole places smells like a salad for a couple of hours and then it goes back to normal.  I don’t use harsh chemicals that are bad, I use natural cleaners like vinegar and water. It is the best form of cleaning ever. It is exciting to me and I find to be so awesome to clean and to know that my house is in tip top shape. I love it
🙂
