Do you depend on diet programs, diet drinks, or diet pills to lose weight? Well, those can do more harm than good and can give you side effects and health problems in the future to come and sometimes we don’t know what those do to our bodies until we have to visit the doctor. The best way to lose weight is to eat foods moderately, and cut your sugar/carbohydrates in half. Also Exercising for 30 minutes to an hour each day. once or twice a day either on the treadmill if you have one at home or outside if its a really nice day or just going to the gym.
People say that you should not eat Carbs at all, like pastas, breads, potatoes, rice etc… They are wrong. Small portions of each is good enough because they all carry nurtients that help your body get through.
Do not eat anything that is fried in oil, like fries, breaded food, poutine, perogies. The best way to cook them is to bake them in the oven without oil. that will cut the oil intake by 80%
Eating meat is a good way to gain protiens from steak, chicken, and beef.
No pork, ribs, hot dogs or sausages as they are the meats that have lots of fat in them.
Drink 8 glasses of water a day. If you cannot handle that many glasses, drink 6. that will help you lose the calories and circulate your blood more.
People say that you should only eat salads, fruits, and vegetables. well, thats not enough. you should eat every food group, but in moderation. Veggies and Fruit carry natural sugars and flavourings.
Exercise is a very important part in losing weight, staying healthy and maintaining your heart rate. 30 minutes to an hour a day is good. Put motivational, positive posters around your exercise area. YOU CAN DO IT! The will power is the strongest power you can have, but the initial start to it can be hectic, but don’t think about it. JUST DO IT! ๐ …. If you are starting, the pain can be so excruciating when calories are burning from your body, but remember this NO PAIN NO GAIN! Exercise is also good for your skin, and complexion. It is always good to drink water before your workout and after your work out. It helps you lose calories quicker. DO NOT OVERDO exercise. it can hurt you. 1 hour a day for exercise is plenty!
Pick one day of the week to weigh yourself, write it down, and make a goal sheet. then you will see the results per week in your clothes, as well as compliments from others.
The Sweets Day: yes its not a good thing to have lots of sugar in your body, but pick a day of the week where you want to eat your favourite dessert, but not the whole thing, just half.
If you are overweight, cannot find clothes in the store that will fit you, and you want to wear bikinis and swim suits and cannot due to that fact, then time to get serious about becoming healthy and to shed those pounds.
REMEMBER DO NOT DEPEND ON DIET PROGRAMS, DIET PILLS, OR DIET DRINKS. Stay far from them as possible. They can do serious Harm and you wont even know it!
Thanks so much for reading ๐
Enjoy your blog. Your perspective is great. As many of your entries show healthy introspection is good. God bless your blog in 2012.
very practical tips! will definitely do the 30-minute exercises everyday! ***keeping fingers crossed*** ๐
Very sound advice! Eating healthy and exercising is the only way to truly lose weight while becoming stronger. Being fit is not about being skinny, it is about having a strong and healthy body. There is no “quick fix” or magic pill that will help anyone lose weight. I like to think of weight loss like a mathematical equation. A very simple one:
IF (Calories IN) (Calories OUT) = weight gain occurs
not sure if the symbols I used posted right….
I was trying to say……
IF the Calories IN are greater than the Calories OUT then weight gain occurs.
IF the Calories IN are less than the Calories OUT then weight loss occurs.
It has long been my belief that diets are dangerous fads. Eating healthily and well is key to all other aspects of physical health (insofar as the physical elements that an individual has control of).
My mother seems to have been dieting for her entire life, and it makes me worry.
Great post, Talin. I’ve tried so many diets. They all worked and I lost weight, and then a year later I put it all back. So last year I decided to walk, 3 miles a day, for four days. After two months, I developed a bone spur in my heel. After two cortisone shots, special othoses in my sneaklers, a bootie to sleep with I’m not much better. so I gave up on dieting and enjoying eating what I feel like.
BTW my romance novel NO MORE LIES is FREE at amazon, http://tinyurl.com/79r88wp
and it is bestseller.
Smoothies are great also — protein shakes…I use Usana. Great advice on exercise too! And watch out for dangerous sneakers…which cause imbalance in the body. Two people I know purchased tone-ups and ended up with serious knee damage. Plain old good sturdy sneakers will do!
Hi Talin,
I recommend the web site SparkPeople.com. I joined it 3 years ago and it’s tools helped me lose weight and learn to eat in moderation, as you describe. I wrote about my journey to fitness and health http://cinhosa.wordpress.com/2010/12/27/2-year-sparkversary/
I am a firm believer that diets lead to obesity – that have in my case. Thank you so much for posting healthy guidelines to are great to use everyday by everyone.
I never depend on those programs because all they want to do is make money off people, I do what they have been talking about for years and that is diet and excerise that is the only way to loose weight properly with no health issues or side effects.
This is very good advice, Talin. I went through all that 25 years ago and lost 10kg in 18 months. By changing my lifestyle and exercising regularly (aerobics, flamenco dancing, zumba or just walking the dog) and eating sensibly I’ve managed to maintain my ideal weight.
Great advice here, I’ll try and stick to it.
I eat like there’s no tomorrow, but I am also very athletic. I do spinning, I run and I practice yoga, so I guess my hunger goes with the amount of physical activity I do. ๐
I don’t believe in diets, I just eat healthy!
Great post! Yes I totally agree on that! Best is to minimize carb intake and take them at appropriate time day after a workout. Throw in some weight/resistance training at least once a week for more effective results!
Great tips!
I totally agree with what you said. The natural way is the best way.
You are right. Diet pills, drinks, and foods are not healthy. Moderation is the key.
Great entry! Every word of it!
